James Tarrant
Executive Director
Jim joined MPA in Spring 2016 bringing his nonprofit management experience from a number of associations. He was part of the senior management team at the Michigan State Medical Society, the executive director of the Chicago Medical Society, the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine and the American Association of Dental Boards. In these roles he has worked with boards and committees, listened to membership, managed for-profit subsidiaries, established grassroots advocacy programs, coordinated education and developed external relationships.

Lisa McGraw
Public Policy Manager
Lisa acts as an advocate on behalf of MPA members with the legislature, executive office and other state agencies. In addition, she works on membership recruitment and relations. She also helps coordinate events like the MPA Annual Convention and other events that provide members training and networking opportunities. She has been with MPA since 2003. Prior to that she worked in the State Senate in various roles for nine years.

Kevin Hook
Advertising Director
Kevin began his newspaper career in 1986 at the Cadillac News as an advertising sales representative. Before joining the MPA staff in June of ‘21, Kevin worked at various newspapers in Iowa, Illinois, and Oklahoma before returning to Michigan in 2010 as Publisher of the Grand Haven Tribune where he stayed until May ‘19 when the Tribune was sold to Paxton Media. Kevin’s experience as advertising director and publisher at various newspapers allows him to fully understand the challenges faced at a daily newspaper. Kevin has also served in various capacities on the MPA and MPAS boards to include MPA President in 2019.
