About Michigan Press Association
Michigan Press Association (MPA) is the official trade association
for the newspapers of Michigan. MPA was founded in 1868 to become an
advocate for Michigan newspapers as well as a
tool to collectively deal with the problems affecting newspapers.
Throughout its history, MPA has withstood the tests of time and
dramatic changes in the news and multimedia industry.
A respected and reputable association, MPA is a source of new ideas and
new techniques for newspapers. It is a promoter of newspaper
advertising as a powerful, persuasive yet underutilized advertising
medium. MPA is the representative of newspaper interests in state
government.
As with any association, MPA's effectiveness and efficiency is
strengthened by its members. The nearly 300 member newspapers reach
readers in every metropolis, hamlet and corner of the Great Lake State.
Member papers are continually recognized for their journalistic
achievements and commitment to bringing their readers outstanding
coverage on the news and issues they care about. Last year alone, our
members received numerous awards honoring them as the best in the
business.
